Aphasia is an impairment of language ability which results in a language disorder. Aphasic (Aged) patients are believed to have bad communication pattern and also low participation in life. This study examined communication use and participation in life for aphasic adults in natural setting.
The study employed the case study research design which involves the use of a 51 year old-aphasic patient. The study area was Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The purposive and convenience sampling method was use...

X-ray powder diffraction methods have been more and more extensively used, in the last twenty years, in the characterization of different crystalline and non-crystalline materials of archaeological, historical, artistic interest. The present paper aims to discuss the use of these methods in studying different aspects related to the Cultural Heritage conservation. This purpose has been achieved by examining the results obtained during the studies carried out by the author and his collaborators on...

While correlating the various components of mechanical stress tensor due to elastic response with the corresponding components of electrically induced stress tensor pertaining to quadratic electrostriction, proper precautions are to be observed for higher order electromechanical coupling. Contributions from lateral stresses, electrical and mechanical boundary conditions are to be considered for the correct estimation of induced strain in elastic dielectrics. The knowledge of dependence of Maxwel...

An anomalous collateral artery was found during the dissection for the pectoralis major myocutaneous flap procedure. This anomalous collateral artery was stemming from the left internal thoracic artery. It is believed that this collateral was formed secondary to congenital aortic coarctation causing abnormal growth of the left fourth aortic arch. This is the first reported case of such a collateral artery in recent literature.

The paper examines theoretical problems of the development of transmissions with intermediate engaged rolling bodies in which speed reduction and load transfer are made through interaction of main gear units with balls. The distinctive feature of this type of gears is the execution of working surfaces (running ways) of the main gear units on the spherical surfaces. The design of spherical transmission with the constant reduction ratio is developed. The principle of its work is based on interacti...

In Pakistan we do not have a National Cancer Registry. Some institutions have started to develop their own Cancer Registry. According to the World Health Organisation annually 120,000 people in Pakistan are diagnosed with cancer. All three types of radiotherapy procedures, teletherapy, brachytherapy and unsealed sources are being employed for treatment of cancer. Accelerators and Cobalt-60 teletherapy units are imported. Radioisotopes used as radiotherapeutics are produced locally. IAEA is const...

The conservation of genetic variation is essential for meeting future unpredictable breeding requirements. Therefore, the foremost priority must be given to assessment of the population variation status. Among several markers, a DNA based microsatellite is a choice for the population studies, currently. We reviewed some important statistical tools for assessing the farm animal biodiversity. Firstly, the reliability of the results which is mainly based on the number of microsatel-lite loci genoty...

Doxycycline (DOX) is lipophilic and synthetic derivative of tetracycline. DOX is a bacteriostatic agent that is active against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, Mycoplasmas, Chlamydiae, Rickettsiae, and some Protozoa. It inhibits the protein synthesis by restricting the binding of RNA to 30S ribosomal subunit. It is used for inflammatory conditions; periodontitis and acute coronary syndromes, variety of cancers, pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, asthma, acute lung inju...

The structure and formation energies of cation antisite defects for a series of stannate pyrochlores A2Sn2O7 (A = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Lu, and Y) and titanate pyrochlores A2Ti2O7 (A = La, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Lu, and Y) have been systematically investigated using the first-principles total energy calculations. The calculated results reveal that the lattice parameters increase and the oxygen positional parameters decrease with increasing ionic radii of the lanthanides in the...
