On Design and Practice of Integrating the Ideological and Political Education into College English Teaching Based on Blended Teaching and the Production-Oriented Concept: A Case Study of “Going Offline”

Abstract

The ideological and political education in curriculum has exerted a profound influence on the overall development of higher education in China. As a basic course for most universities and colleges, college English integrates Chinese and western thoughts and cultures, which makes it both instrumental and humanistic. With rich educational resources, college English has unique advantages in ideological and political education. Based on the production-oriented approach, this paper puts forward a design and practice of integrating the ideological and political education into college English teaching with a case study of Unit 6 Going Offline chosen from New Progressive College English. It explores how to fully tap the rich ideological and political resources contained in the course itself and expounds how to achieve a real integration of language teaching and ideological and political education based on a blended teaching model in the whole process of motivating, enabling and assessments.
