A Study on the Lack of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture in Middle School English Teaching

Abstract

Chinese excellent traditional culture is the root and soul of a nation. This paper analyzes the current situation of the integration of Chinese excellent traditional culture into English Teaching in junior high schools, and puts forward countermeasures to the problems in the process of integration, aiming to find a better way of integration. The survey found that there are still many problems in the current integration process, such as the school atmosphere, teachers’ quality, students’ subjective initiative, the cultural content of teaching materials, cultural tests, and the ability to appreciate foreign cultures. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to change teachers’ teaching concepts, build school-based courses, attach importance to textbook design, select appropriate teaching methods, follow students’ cognitive development laws, improve evaluation methods, and strengthen the construction of teachers. Through the integration of Chinese excellent traditional culture into English teaching, students’ cultural awareness can be cultivated, their English expression ability of traditional culture can be improved, their value orientation can be expressed, their cultural confidence can be strengthened, Chinese stories can be told well in cross-cultural communication, and Chinese excellent traditional culture can be carried forward.
