We used the MATLAB Program to calculate the mass stopping power and range of alpha particles in biological human body tissues (such as water and the eye lens tissues) at energies between 0.2 and 200 MeV. The Bethe Block formula was used to calculate the mass stopping power, and the simple integration (continuous slowing down approximation) method was used to calculate the alpha particle ranges. Empirical formulae were developed to determine mass-stopping power and ranges of water and eye lens ti...

The mass stopping power and range of alpha particles in biological human body tissues (blood, brain, adipose, and bone) were computed using the MATLAB Program at energies ranging from 0.2 MeV to 200 MeV. The Bethe Block formula was used to compute the mass stopping power. Furthermore, the alpha particle ranges at the tissues were calculated using the simple integration (continuous slowing down approximation) method. The results of mass-stopping power versus energy and range versus energy were gr...

The sunlight that gets to the earth’s surface is composed of three major types of radiation. The Infrared radiation is what gives sunlight its warmth. Visible light helps us see. And lastly the ultraviolet radiation (UV) which poses the most damaging effects of the sunlight cannot be seen nor felt. The UV data over Wuse, Abuja, Nigeria (9.08°N, 7.48°E) was recorded with the Davis wireless vantage pro2 weather station for the year 2020. The research showed that the UV index was higher at ...

Implementation of a pretreatment quality assurance (QA) system needs a strong validation process and a good comprehension of the tool. The aim of this study is to validate COMPASS (IBA Dosimetry, Germany) as our 3D pre- treatment QA tool for system of Pinnacle as treatment planning system and an ELEKTA synergy linear accelerator. Validation of the systems was performed with static and dynamic plans on AAPM TG-119 phantom and 10 real VMAT plans for prostate and head and neck. Comparison between p...

The aim of the present work is to investigate the influence of dynamic minimum leaf gap into Pinnacle3 on VMAT plans quality. Three treatment machines were modeled in our TPS with a different value of dynamic minimum leaf gap of 5, 10 and 20 mm. VMAT plans of AAPM TG-119 phantom and twenty clinical real cases were planned on each machine. Based on AAPM TG-119 guidelines, we compared the machine on their ability to fulfill the dose goals; the pretreatment quality assurance was done with COMPASS Q...
