According to the Conceptual Metaphor, metaphor is not primarily a linguistic ornament but also a basic cognitive process that is pervasive in both thought and perception. As a powerful tool for language learning, it has much applica-tion value to foreign language teaching. Specifically speaking, metaphor has a lot of positive effects on vocabulary teaching and thinking ability teaching.
