Research on the Construction of Ideological and Political Education in ESP Courses in the Perspective of Integrating Content and LanguageDOI: 10.4236/oalib.1111006, PP. 1-14 Subject Areas: Sociology, Higher Education Keywords: Content and Language Integration, English for Specific Purposes, Critical Intercultural Literacy, Action Research Abstract This paper employs an action research to delve into the innovative ways to cultivate students’ critical intercultural literacy in the English News Reading course. Grounded in the education philosophy of Content and Language Integration (CLI), moral education elements and teaching activities are designed to achieve moral education and character-building goals based on the unit themes. The three rounds of action research indicate an effective teaching model that integrates content, language and moral education has been formed. The ESP course “English News Reading” can be transformed into a course where language proficiency, critical intercultural literacy and a sense of Chinese cultural identity are simultaneously enhanced.
