The Congolese economy is characterized largely by the dominance of small and mediumsized enterprises. These form the backbone of the economy in most countries. However, they face several challenges, including the globalization of markets and the evolution of technology. These challenges impose strategic choices on these companies capable of keeping them on the market and increasing their performance. With this in mind, the purpose of this study is to describe the strategic choices made by SMEs and to assess the effect of these choices on their performance. The construction of this research is guided by the following main question: What is the effect of strategic choices on the performance of SMEs in Congo? To answer this question, we opted for an exploratory qualitative approach on a sample of 15 business cases. The results of this research highlight two key results: the diversification of the strategic choices of SMEs in Congo, on the one hand, and the mixed impact of these choices on their performance indicators, on the other hand.
