A Study on the Role of Music in the Context of the COVID-19—Focusing on the Comparison of Chinese and Japanese Music Culture

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the tragedy triggered by this disaster has been universally painful. Besides the pathological damage brought by the virus, human beings have been suffering from irritability, anxiety, and phobia, mentally and physically. At the moment, we noticed that music, in various forms, seems to be smoothly comforting our moods and gradually altering the negative situation. On earth, what role does music play? With this thought-provoking question, our team applies the specialized knowledge to this research and explores the difference in music culture between China and Japan from the perspective of origin, music therapy theory, etc. We will also research the issue by analyzing the data of our questionnaire and looking into people’s need for music, referring to their experiences.
