Funny Tragedy—Analysis on Vile Bodies

As Evelyn Waugh’s first highly successful work, Vile Bodies was seen as “a fiction that summarizes and defines an era”. This paper analyzes the characters, their endings, and the writing techniques of combining tragedy with comedy. It is believed that the youth from the upper social class between the two World Wars as main characters depicted in the novel can lead the contemporary youth to moral reflections.
