Abstract
: This paper investigates the relationship between 566 students’, their parents’ and their teachers’ perceptions on the socio–emotional competence of such sample of learners with high intellectual abilities. The results indicated that parents’ and their children’s self-perceptions were positively related, the relationship being moderately statistically significant in all socio–emotional intelligence aspects. However, the relationship between teachers’ ratings and parents’ and students’ ratings was positively statistically significant at a low level. Using a multitrait–multimethod analysis (Campbell and Fiske, 1959), the authors demonstrated strong method effects, especially in the case of teachers, indicating that ratings from different sources provide different and complementary information on the socio–emotional skills of high intellectual ability students.

Abstract
: In this study, A356.0 alloys were reinforced with varied percentage of Alumina and Graphite by liquid metallurgy route and tested for Microstructure, Mechanical properties and Damping behaviour. Microstructure revealed uniform distribution of reinforcement in the matrix resulting in improved Mechanical properties and Damping behaviourcompared to un-reinforced material. The ceramic reinforced alloys were found to have improvement in Mechanical properties and Damping behaviour which may be attributed to the uniform distribution and bonding of reinforcement in the matrix.

Dabigatran, a direct thrombin inhibitor, in atrial fibrillation: Is it already time for a change in oral anticoagulation therapy?

Journal of Atrial Fibrillation
, 2010, DOI:
10.4022/jafib.v1i10.559
Abstract
: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia, and its prevalence increases with aging and the severity of heart disease. AF affects more than 2 million people in the US, and more than 4 million in Europe. It is expected that the age adjusted prevalence in US will excede 10 million people by the year 2050 .In the last decade, we were able to see the light shed by several trials that dealt with AF mechanisms and the appropriate management of AF patients. Clinical studies have focused mainly on the electrophysiological properties of the substrate in the atrial muscle during sinus rhythm and on the atrial electrical responses elicited by premature timulation method . However, many undamental aspects of this arrhythmia have been poorly understood until quite recently, and there are several features on the mechanisms of AF that makes it difficult to manage it properly. Increasing awareness of AF as a disease with possible fatal complications rather than as an acceptable alternative to sinus rhythm has led to search for clear arguments to support a certain strategy as a golden standard.

KATER II EVALUATION

Abstract
: The article evaluates the implementation of KATER II (KArst waTER research program II), a multi-regional initiative financed from ERDF and coordinated by the Municipality of Vienna. The evaluation methodology is in accordance with international good practice. The program deals with increasing demand by citizens and environmental organizations for cleaner rivers and lakes, groundwater and coastal beaches. In many European countries, karstic areas are important and acutely essential for public water supply. These areas are at the same time highly sensitive and valuable natural environments. Conversely, exploitation pressure on these areas is increasing. This mainly relates to fields such as tourism, settlements, transport infrastructure, forestry and pasture management. KATER II aims to safeguard co-existence of land-use activities, water management and environmental protection in sensitive areas by developing a Geographic Information System (GIS) designed to improve decision-making.

Abstract
: In today’s world Wireless Sensor Networks are used in many industrial and civilian application areas. Maintaining Sensor Network is very cost-effective so sensors will be shared by multiple applications to gather various types of data. All the data generated in Sensor Network will not be equally important, some data may be important than other. Thus a differentiated data delivery is required in Sensor Networks for HP and LP data. To accomplish this task this system uses CAR and MCAR routing mechanisms whose main aim is to increase the delivery ratio of HP data and to increase the performance of the system in presence of congestion. So the scope of the system can be confined as the task of integration of the existing technology and proposed routing protocols to the maximum level possible so that it reduce the time and cost significantly and the system can be utilized and implied in the suitable way possible. System objective is to lessen the progressive performance failure in an overcrowded Sensor Networks using CAR and MCAR and increase the

Abstract
: H.264/AVC (Advanced Video Coding) is the newest video coding standard of the moving video coding experts group. The decoder is standardized by imposing restrictions on the bit stream and syntax, and defining the process of decoding syntax elements such that every decoder conforming to the standard will produce similar output when encoded bit stream is provided as input. It uses state of art coding tools and provides enhanced coding efficiency for a wide range of applications, including video telephony, real-time video conferencing, direct-broadcast TV (television), blue-ray disc, DVB (Digital video broadcast) broadcast, streaming video and others. The paper proposes to port the H.264/AVC decoder on the various processors such as TI DSP (Digital signal processor), ARM (Advanced risk machines) and P4 (Pentium processors). The paper also proposesto analyze and compare Video Quality Metrics for different encoded video sequences. The paper proposes to investigate the decoder performance on different processors with and without deblocking filter and compare the performance based on different video quality measures.

Abstract
: In this paper, we are proposing a new replica control algorithm Parent Siblings Oriented Tree Quorum Protocol (PSTQ) for the management of replicated data in distributed database system. Thisalgorithm imposes a logical structure of tree on the set of copies of an object. The proposed protocol provides a small read quorum as well as a small write quorum while guaranteeing fault-tolerance of write operations. With this algorithm read operation is executed by reading one copy in failure-free environment. In case of failure of sites, number of data copies required for read operation increases but remains constant for subsequent failure of the sites. The less number of data copies required for write operation provide low write operation cost and high write availability.

Abstract
: A series of novel metal complexes containing metal atoms such as Zn, Co, Cu, Cd, Ni, Mg and Sn have been synthesized from 3-(1,3-benzoxazol-2-yl)naphthalen-2-ol. The synthesized ligand was well characterized by IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectrometry. The electrochemical properties were studied by cyclic voltammetric analysis. The synthesized complexes are fluorescent and absorb in the range of 317 to 323 nm while emit in the range of 371 to 416 nm with good quantum yield. All metal complexes show significant in vitro antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus strains and in vitro antifungal activity against C. albicans and A. niger strains by using serial dilution method. The antibacterial activities were expressed as the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) in μg/mL.

Abstract
: An erosional landscape characterized the Western Ghats in the Deccan Volcanic Province of India. The upland region shows the absence of sedimentological records for the stratigraphic period from post-Eocene to prePleistocene, except laterites which are extensively developed. The absence of any sedimentological records, therefore, has put severe constraint on the reconstruction of the Tertiary history of the landscape. While the major known geological events like the northward drift of Indian subcontinent, the formation of Western Ghats and the establishment of monsoon system in response to the rise of Himalayas, the repercussions of these geotectonic events on the landforms are not yet properly understood. The study of the existing records in the forms of offshore deposits, denudational surfaces, and the laterites and laterite-like materials, thus, is an effort to reconstruct the palaeoclimatic and palaeotectonic history of at least a part of the Indian Peninsula. The semi-arid to sub-humid region of the Khanapur Plateau on the eastern flanks of the Western Ghats has shown the presence of laterite-like deposits that referred to as 'laterite' by a number of earlier workers. The so-called 'laterites' exhibit all the characters of typical 'red beds'. It observed that the 'red beds' rest unconformably over basalts that have their own weathering profile.
