Abstract: Tendo como referência um caso clínico, e a partir de elabora es sobre duas diferentes concep es de violência, este texto se prop e a pensar as dificuldades em se apreender o lugar que os jovens em conflito com a lei ocupam na sociedade, e os impasses de sua abordagem terapêutica. Esses impasses, mais do que um obstáculo, deveriam ser o empuxo que nos permitiria confrontar as impossibilidades envolvidas, por um viés n o apenas clínico, mas também político. // Taking as reference a clinical case, and from elaborations on two different conceptions of violence, this paper proposes to consider the difficulties in understanding the place that young people in conflict with the law occupy in society, and the impasse of its therapeutic approach. These impasses, more than an obstacle, should be the force that would allow us to confront the impossibilities involved, through an inclination not only clinical, but also political.
Youth Mobilisation as Social Navigation. Reflections on the concept of dubriagem

Abstract: This article sheds light on the mobilisation of young people into conflict. It argues that warfare constitutes a terrain of possibility for urban youth in Guinea-Bissau, and shows how they navigate war as an event by tactically manoeuvring within the social ties and options that arise in such situations. Building on the Guinean Creole term of dubriagem, the article proposes the concept of social navigation as an analytical optic able to shed light on praxis in unstable environments. The concept of social navigation makes it possible to focus on the way we move within changing social environments. It is processuality squared, illuminating motion within motion. The article thus advocates an analysis of praxis that takes its point of departure in a Batesonian and intermorphological understanding of action in order to further our understanding of the acts of youth in conflict. Este artigo foca a mobiliza o para o conflito dos jovens, alegando que a guerra constitui um terreno de possibilidades para a juventude urbana na Guiné-Bissau e mostrando como estes mesmos jovens navegam através da guerra através de op es tácticas e manobrando os seus la os sociais. Baseando-se no termo crioulo guineense dubriagem, o artigo prop e o conceito de navega o social enquanto uma perspectiva de análise esclarecedora da práxis em ambientes instáveis. Este conceito foca as formas de actua o em ambientes de mudan a social, enquadrando o processo de movimento. O artigo defende uma análise da práxis partindo de uma interpreta o Batesoniana e intermorfológica da ac o para aprofundar a compreens o dos actos dos jovens em situa es de conflito.

Abstract: As reflex es deste texto s o produzidas em meio ao crescente interesse pela juventude como objeto de estudo em pesquisas desenvolvidas pelas ciências humanas e sociais. Nossos argumentos centram-se nas identidades narrativas dos jovens em priva o de liberdade, decorrentes de pesquisa realizada num Centro de Atendimento Socioeducativo. O intuito é dar relevo aos processos identitários de uma juventude específica, que narra seu cotidiano a partir do espa o de confinamento. Numa perspectiva microssociológica, as palavras dos jovens constituem matéria privilegiada para organiza o, análise e interpreta o dos dados construídos no campo, por meio da troca de cartas, fazendo ressoar os seus ecos nas interpreta es que apresentamos.The reflections in this text are produced amongst the increasing interest in youth as the object of study of research in the social and human sciences. Our arguments are centered on the narrative identities of youth who are deprived of liberty, based on research conducted in a Center of Socio-educational Attention. The aim is to emphasize processes of identity of a specific group of youth, who narrate their everyday experiences from a place of confinement. From a microsociological perspective, youth’s words constitute privileged matter for the organization, analysis and interpretation of data constructed in the field, through the exchange of letters, echoing in the interpretations that we now offer.
The Origins of the Contemporary Juvenile Justice System in Ghana

Abstract: The origin(s) of the contemporary juvenile justice system in Ghana could be traced to the country’s colonial era just like most modern criminal justice institutions in Africa. Colonization and its consequent introduction of English education, laws, administration, and Christianity challenged the traditional agencies for maintaining social control and the system of justice. But to fully appreciate the new juvenile justice system that was introduced, one must first appreciate the system that was in place in the precolonial era. Based on an analysis of secondary sources, this article argues that the systems in place during both the colonial and precolonial periods were reflective of a particular perception of children in each era

Abstract: the statute of children and adolescents ( a brazilian law related to children and adolescents), contains articles regulating the practice of the infraction act and the socioeducational procedures leading the adolescent to reflect on the offense committed and its subsequent return to the familial interaction. the objective was to understand the social representations of adolescents in conflict with the law about socioeducative practice with privation of liberty. the study included 50 adolescents who completed interviews with depth which, thereafter, were subjected to content analysis. the results showed seven empirical categories: conception of the practice socioeducative of privation of freedom, description of the institution, professional image, perception of self-image, life experience, demonstrations and biopsycognitve life project. social representations indicated that the practice presented a non-socialization primacy in relation to socialization. the social actors have shown that if the practice of socioeducative which is related with the privation of liberty is just and humane, they can be succeed in re-socialization of these adolescents and in overcoming their excluded condition.

Abstract: this work had the objective to apprehend the content and structure of the social representations (rs) on adolescence, under the optics of social development assistants (ads) for adolescents in conflict with the law and under social and educative confinement measures. interviews were carried out with 40 educators of three units of foundation for the children and adolescents, in which it was requested the participants to talk about the adolescence. the data were analyzed by the alceste software. the results show two adolescence representations: the "normal", characterized by a moment of transition, omnipotence and difficulties in the development process; and the "different", the transgressor, from a "dysfunctional family", whose representation serves as model for the conflicting interactions that lead to the infraction. adss demonstrate disbelief in the possibility of an educational work, considering the presupposed absence of a healthy family structure and the adolescents' "weakness." progresses and resistances are intertwined.

Health and justice partnerships for young adults – when health and law unite in care

Abstract: Issues of health and law are closely connected in people with chronic illness but as yet there is little emphasis in current health services funding and planning on establishing formal links between these two important areas. The Mater Young Adult Health Centre and Health Advocacy Legal Clinic partnership offers an example of an innovative and effective health–justice and multidisciplinary practice. Health and legal services are co-located in a purpose-built tertiary hospital for adolescents and young adults with complex health needs, which facilitates close collaboration between health and legal professionals and interdisciplinary work. In this paper, we explore young people’s health and well-being in a contemporary context of holistic care provided within a health–justice partnership in a tertiary hospital for young adults with chronic illness. Using illustrative examples, we describe the collaborative treatment model involving health and law professionals working in an interdisciplinary clinic. While we touch on the role of students in the clinic and the educational benefits for the them, our primary focus is on describing the integration of law and health as a model of care and the importance of growth and shift in the understandings of professionals. We provide examples of treatment, coordinated actions and successful outcomes in the well-being of three complex young people, their families and the community. We conclude by offering future visions of service expansion, both in terms of availability on-site as well as increased support

Abstract: this article presents case studies of class action suits in the areas of consumer rights, childhood, the environment, health, and work. the study is based on process analysis and interviews with the respective parties to the suits. the results provide a better understanding of the dynamics of new areas of conflict and the affirmation of collective rights through interaction between civil society and legal institutions like the office of the public defender, office of the public prosecutor, and judiciary branch as a whole.
