La novela por entregas como género discursivo. El caso de the way we live now de Anthony TrollopeKeywords: discourse genre, english literature, serial novel, victorian england, anthony trollope. Abstract: this paper deals with the way we live now (1874-1875), a serial novel by anthony trollope (london, 1815-1882). this documental approach has a twofold aim: on the one hand, it begins with a theoretical elaboration of what a discourse genre is; 19th century serials fit that definition, since they follow given parameters for their production and reception in a given place and time within a given culture. on the other hand, being a serial novel, the way we live now is approached through its stories and the relationship established between the narrator and the reader, in order to reveal the author?s intention of satirizing his own society; in doing so, trollope exerts a sort of moral authority with which respected writers were invested at the time the novel was published.
