LA CULTURA DIAGUITA EN EL VALLE DEL RíO ILLAPEL

this article presents the final results for the fondecyt n° 1980248 project on the cultura diaguita in the valley of río illapel, iv region, chile. settlement patterns, chronology, pottery designs, paste pottery patterns, and food resources data are presented. with all these results, it is possible to obtain a new perspective on the "cultura diaguita" which is discussed in detail in the present work. though the culture was analyzed from a marginal subarea most of the conclusions are applicable to the nuclear areas of the elqui and limarí valleys
