%X this article presents the final results for the fondecyt n¡ã 1980248 project on the cultura diaguita in the valley of r¨ªo illapel, iv region, chile. settlement patterns, chronology, pottery designs, paste pottery patterns, and food resources data are presented. with all these results, it is possible to obtain a new perspective on the "cultura diaguita" which is discussed in detail in the present work. though the culture was analyzed from a marginal subarea most of the conclusions are applicable to the nuclear areas of the elqui and limar¨ª valleys
