Alcances y limitaciones para caracterizar las ocupaciones formativas en Cafayate (Salta)

this work analyses the possibilities and limitatios of placing the archaeological formative sites the cafayate (salta) micro-region from the chronological point of view. records show peculiarities that do not correspond well with the antecedents of this subregion. absolute radiocarbon-dated indicators as well as the relative ones, such as rock art, pottery technology and different kinds of placement in the south of calchaquí valley were used to estimate the pre-santamariana occupations chronologically. on a micro-regional scale there was a progress in the chronological, technological, ritual and territorial knowledge. this information shows that the social processes were peculiar and that populations were part of a dynamics different from the regional one
