Primer registro de Ceramium cingulatum Weber-Van Bosse (Ceramiaceae, Rhodophyta) para el océano Atlántico Occidental

the occurrence of the red alga ceramium cingulatum associated with gelidium serrulatum, in the western atlantic ocean, is reported for the first time. c. cingulatum is characterized by thallus rod-shaped, creeping and erect habit, branching absent, tetrasporangia protruding and verticillate. the specimens were collected in the intertidal zone of puerto cruz, vargas state and los coquitos, aragua state, venezuela. a description of the species is presented with morphological and reproductive data, habitat and geographical distribution.
