%X the occurrence of the red alga ceramium cingulatum associated with gelidium serrulatum, in the western atlantic ocean, is reported for the first time. c. cingulatum is characterized by thallus rod-shaped, creeping and erect habit, branching absent, tetrasporangia protruding and verticillate. the specimens were collected in the intertidal zone of puerto cruz, vargas state and los coquitos, aragua state, venezuela. a description of the species is presented with morphological and reproductive data, habitat and geographical distribution.
