Abstract:

This paper focuses on the positive and negative effects of bilingual environments on language development in children aged 3 to 6 years by analyzing the literature related to the impact of bilingual environments on children’s oral proficiency. The review explores theoretical frameworks, empirical evidence, and practical implications for educators and policymakers. Despite the cognitive, linguistic, and socio-cultural benefits associated with bilingualism, exposure to two languages simultaneously may pose challenges to children’s language development. Methodological limitations and the need for interdisciplinary research approaches are also discussed.
