从现实交流到虚拟呈现——“自我呈现”理论综述

Abstract:
自我呈现理论是社会心理学和新闻传播学中的重要研究领域,旨在探讨个体在社交互动中如何建构自己的身份和形象。随着技术的不断变革,媒体呈现形式愈加丰富,但“自我呈现”这一经典理论似乎鲜有新的发展。本文通过系统梳理自我呈现理论的演变历程,结合从BBS到现代社交媒体的历史脉络,重点探讨了符号互动论、拟剧论等经典理论在各阶段中的适用性及其面临的新挑战,揭示了技术进步如何重塑个体的自我构建和社会交往方式,并提出了在当下重度媒介化社会中,重新审视自我呈现理论的必要性和方向。
The theory of self-presentation is a key area of research in social psychology and communication studies, focusing on how individuals construct their identity and image in social interactions. As technology evolves, media presentation formats have become increasingly diverse; yet the classical theory of “self-presentation” has seen little new development. This paper systematically traces the evolution of self-presentation theory, examining its applicability and the new challenges it faces across different stages, from BBS forums to modern social media, with a particular focus on symbolic interactionism and dramaturgical theory. It reveals how technological advancements have reshaped individual self-construction and social interaction, and argues for the need to reassess self-presentation theory in today’s highly media society, proposing directions for future exploration.
