中国古代典籍英译本的“义、体、气”三合——《道德经》英译本的比较研究

Abstract:
本文以文章翻译学的“义、体、气”三合为理论依托，通过比较分析Auther Waley和许渊冲的《道德经》英译本的译介策略，探讨译文和原文是否能够做到三合，即“义合”、“体合”、“气合”。在比较分析的基础上，挖掘《道德经》不同译者如何发挥语用主体的主观能动性，可为完善《道德经》的译介策略作出参考意义。
Based on the theory of “meaning, genre and literary strength” in compositional translatology, and by comparing and analyzing the translation strategies of the English translations of the Tao Te Ching by Auther Waley and Xu Yuanchong, this paper explores whether the translations and the original texts can achieve the tri-match, i.e., “meaning matching, “genre matching” and “literary strength matching”. On the basis of the comparative analysis, it is possible to dig out how different translators of the Tao Te Ching can exert the subjective initiative of the linguistic subject, which can provide a reference for improving the translation strategy of the Tao Te Ching.
