Diary For My Loves: Notes From Márta Mészáros To The HistoryKeywords: Márta Mészáros,Sevgililerime Günce,Macar sinemas?,sosyalist rejim Abstract: Hungarian director Márta Mészáros, born in 1931, has witnessed tragedies of the 20th century, and her films reflect those tragedies. In the 1980s, through her autobiographical diaries, she recorded the pressures of the political regimes in Hungary on her personal life. Diary for My Loves (1987), the second film of her diary series, tells of the oppressive political atmosphere in the 1950s through the narrator Juli’s eyes. In this study, Juli’s personal adventure and the social events of the period that form a basis for her adventure are analysed as an alternative example of historiography in the axis of autobiographical and collective memory
