A contribution to the history of Bīmāristān of Na?ībīn/NusaybinKeywords: Anadolu,Nusaybin,Bimaristan,T?p Tarihi Abstract: One of the hospitals built in Anatolia, which we have learned from the sources, was established in Nusaybin. A?med ?īsā Beg notified that there was a hospital in Nusaybin in 14th century in the chapter on Bīmāristān-? Na?ībīn of his book entitled Tārī? al-Bīmāristānāt fī al-Islām. His argument relied on The Travels of Ibn Ba??ūta and solely this knowledge was referred to in lots of other works in the literature. Aim of this study is the complementary evaluation of the information regarding the history of Bīmāristān of Na?ībīn/Nusaybin existed in the history of Turkish medicine in the light of some new knowledge encountered during our research. Primary sources, which include information on Bīmāristān of Na?ībīn/Nusaybin, were determined and studied, then acquired information regarding Bīmāristān of Na?ībīn/Nusaybin were presented in the “results” section and discussed in the light of literature. Bīmāristān of Na?ībīn/Nusaybin was constructed by Jamāl al-dīn, the vizier of Zangid Atabegs of Mosul during the age of the Great Seljuk Empire. Ibn Jubayr and Ibn Ba??ū?a, in their travel books, made mention of this hospital existed in 1184 and 1327, respectively. There is no information on Bīmāristān of Na?ībīn/Nusaybin in Evliya ?elebi’s travel book. Tārīkh Mayyāfāri?īn wa āmid still is the unique book in which Vizier Jamāl al-dīn was registered as the founder of Bīmāristān of Na?ībīn/Nusaybin
