THE BRITISH ENGAGEMENTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST IN THE CONTEXT OF ECONOMIC INTERESTS AND SECURITY CONCERNS IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY

Historically, the Middle East region has always been at the center of attraction due to its geostrategic location andhydro-carboon resources. Dominant Powers of different ages have always been interested in this asset generating region. As the region was being reshaped in the first half of the 20th century, the dominant power of the 19th century, Britain, engaged in the region to maximize its interests. This study focuses on the economic and security scope of British engagements and the methodology applied in Iraq, Egypt, Palestine and Iran during the first half of the 20th century.
