Dominant Powers of different ages have always been interested in this asset generating region. As the region was being reshaped in the first half of the 20th century, the dominant power of the 19th century, Britain, engaged in the region to maximize its interests. This study focuses on the economic and security scope of British engagements and the methodology applied in Iraq, Egypt, Palestine and Iran during the first half of the 20th century.
