Assessment of carbon dioxide emissions due to fuel consumption in lentil production in Southeastern Anatolia RegionKeywords: Mercimek,Yak?t tüketimi,Karbondioksit emisyonu,Güneydo?u Anadolu Abstract: Due to global climate change, greenhouse gas analyzes for agricultural production systems are becoming more common with energy analyzes. In this study, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the South Eastern Anatolian Region (GDAB) due to fuel consumption in dry lentil production were evaluated. A total of 165 face-to-face surveys were conducted with a total of 165 red lentils producers in GDAB and data were collected on fuel consumption in production processes. The calculations to determine the CO2 emissions released as a result of red lentil production are based on the proposed method of calculation of the fuel-based CO2 emissions in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The total fuel and oil consumption per unit production area (ha) for different field applications in red lentil production is 144.34 l ha-1 in GDAB. The total fuel and oil consumption in unit production corresponds to 5356.05 MJ ha-1 of energy consumption, resulting in a total of 396.38 kg CO2 emissions per hectare. The specific fuel consumption, the specific energy productivity, the specific CO2 emission, the specific grain yield, the specific energy consumption and the specific yield in the production of red lentils in GDAB were determined to be 0.137 l kg-1, 0.196 kg MJ-1, 0.378 kgCO2 kg-1, 7.27 kg l-1, 5.1 MJ kg-1 and 2.65 kg kgCO2-1, respectively
