DETERMINATION OF TRACE ELEMENT CONCENTRATIONS OF VEGETABLES AND FRUITS CONSUMED IN AYDIN PROVINCE

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to assess the concentration of cadmium (Cd), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni) and zinc (Zn) in various fruits and vegetables sold in Ayd?n. These trace elements were determined by inductively coupled plasma optic emission spectrometry (ICP OES). The concentration range of the investigated elements were 0-0.27 μg/g, 0–0.40 μg/g, 3.23–25.05 μg/g, 0–0.33 μg/g, 7.35–554.86 μg/g, 0–2.19 μg/g, 0–58.34 μg/g, 1.03–16.84 μg/g, 4.02–48.55 μg/g for cadmium, cobalt, copper, chromium, iron, lead, manganese, nickel, and zinc, respectively. The accuracy of the method was determined by using of a standard reference material (lyophilised brown bread-BCR 191). The determined values were in agreement with the certified reference values
