An Example to the Metonymic Expressions Related to Gypsies in the Sample of Turkish Dialects: “GYPSIES ARE STINGY”Keywords: Türkiye Türk?esi A??zlar?, ?ingeneler, Metonimi, ?ingeneler Cimridir, A??zbilimi (Diyalektoloji) Abstract: There are numerous words related to gypsies in the dialects spoken in Turkey, some of which are abdal, cehūd, ??gań, k?pt?, mutrib etc. The common trait of such words is that, they all imply “stingy” as well as “gypsy”, constituting a metonymycal perception. In this way, words related to stingy are also used for gypsies.
