DEL-1-Regulated Immune Plasticity and Inflammatory Disorders

DEL-1 has recently emerged as a critical factor for homeostatic immunity by regulating diverse functions, ranging from stress myelopoiesis in the BM to initiation of local tissue inflammation and resolution thereof. In the BM, DEL-1 acts as a niche factor that promotes myelopoiesis; endothelial-cell derived DEL-1 regulates neutrophil recruitment to the inflamed tissue; and macrophage-derived DEL-1 regulates efferocytosis and the plastic reprogramming of macrophages to a proresolving phenotype with enhanced expression of anti-inflammatory and tissue-remodeling factors
