Social-Religious rituals in the Javanese culture: the case of the traditional dance Ronggeng in the 19th abd 20th century

This text analyses two cases of ronggeng, the dancer on tayub or tayuban dance found in two novels: Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, written by Ahmad Tohari, and Bawuk, written by Umar Kayam, which is a small part of Javanese culture, which constitutes the cultural diversity in Indonesia. The article focuses on analyzing socio-religious aspects in traditional Javanese dances, particularly in the case of ronggeng presented in the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century
