Social-Religious rituals in the Javanese culture: the case of the traditional dance Ronggeng in the 19th abd 20th centuryKeywords: Indonesia, Javanese culture, religion, traditional dances, ronggeng Abstract: This text analyses two cases of ronggeng, the dancer on tayub or tayuban dance found in two novels: Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, written by Ahmad Tohari, and Bawuk, written by Umar Kayam, which is a small part of Javanese culture, which constitutes the cultural diversity in Indonesia. The article focuses on analyzing socio-religious aspects in traditional Javanese dances, particularly in the case of ronggeng presented in the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century
