%X This text analyses two cases of ronggeng, the dancer on tayub or tayuban dance found in two novels: Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, written by Ahmad Tohari, and Bawuk, written by Umar Kayam, which is a small part of Javanese culture, which constitutes the cultural diversity in Indonesia. The article focuses on analyzing socio-religious aspects in traditional Javanese dances, particularly in the case of ronggeng presented in the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century
