THERMAL MONITORING FOR INDUCTION MOTORS BASED ON PARAMETERS IDENTIFICATION TECHNIQUEKeywords: induction motor, parameters identification, resistance, thermal monitoring,induction motor, parameters identification, resistance, thermal monitoring Abstract: The stator and rotor temperatures are of concern in both shortterm protection and longterm condition monitoring for induction motors. A novel thermal monitoring method for induction motors based on parameters identification technique is presented in this paper. Firstly, the stator and rotor resistances are identified online, and then the corresponding temperatures are calculated according to the principle that the metal resistance linearly depends on its temperature. Results of numerical simulations and experimental tests show that the method is valid and effective. It is easy to integrate the proposed method with the condition monitoring and faults diagnosis system for induction motors
