%0 Journal Article %T THERMAL MONITORING FOR INDUCTION MOTORS BASED ON PARAMETERS IDENTIFICATION TECHNIQUE %J 电力系统自动化 %D 2002 %X The stator and rotor temperatures are of concern in both shortterm protection and longterm condition monitoring for induction motors. A novel thermal monitoring method for induction motors based on parameters identification technique is presented in this paper. Firstly, the stator and rotor resistances are identified online, and then the corresponding temperatures are calculated according to the principle that the metal resistance linearly depends on its temperature. Results of numerical simulations and experimental tests show that the method is valid and effective.
