Experiential Learning about Food Allergy at an Academic InstitutionDOI: 10.1016/j.jaci.2016.12.479 Abstract: In patients with food allergy (FA), avoidance is necessary to prevent anaphylaxis. Many healthcare providers have minimal formal training on patient education of food avoidance. Little is known about allergy fellows’ empathy toward FA patients, and “experiencing life” with FA may increase empathy. There are few published reports of physicians-in-training simulating the daily life of a patient with medical conditions.
