Orientalism and Social Sensibility in the Work of Konstantin Velichkov

Angel Angelov examines the theme of Orientalism in the visual and the literary works of Konstantin Velichkov. He draws the conclusion that in Velichkov’s work Orientalism manifests as a cultural sensibility to the other and is part of his permanent interest in the more important theme of social justice. Angelov compares Velichkov’s paintings with some works of Italian and Austrian artists of the same epoch. He also makes a survey of the publications on Velichkov’s visual and literary works in Bulgaria
