Acute cholecystitis in a patient with complete situs inversus: a case report | Journal of Peritoneum (and other serosal surfaces)

Situs inversus is a rare congenital anomaly, characterized by transposition of the large organs. Although the anomaly is generally without symptoms, it can cause difficulties in the diagnostic process. We present the case of 44-year old man presenting with acute cholecystitis. The patient underwent successful laparoscopic cholecystectomy, from which he recovered uneventful.
