Os ribeirinhos da Amazonia: das práticas em curso à educacao escolar

Every sociocultural group develops knowledges and acts during their lifetime, mainly from their family and community living. But many times we can found a distance between the knowledge of those people and the school knowledge. This article aims to discuss cultural aspects lived by “ribeirinhos” (riverain communities) from the Amazon and to problematize the school education developed in those communities. The work proposed an qualitative approach with ethnographical inspiration developed in schools for “ribeirinhos” communities from Sao Domingos do Capim, a city in the state of Pará. The results expose the ribeirinho’s way of life and the specificities of this sociocultural group as, for example, the practices of subsistence and commerce; this approach share some thoughts on the educational context in these specific communities.
