But many times we can found a distance between the knowledge of those people and the school knowledge. This article aims to discuss cultural aspects lived by ¡°ribeirinhos¡± (riverain communities) from the Amazon and to problematize the school education developed in those communities. The work proposed an qualitative approach with ethnographical inspiration developed in schools for ¡°ribeirinhos¡± communities from Sao Domingos do Capim, a city in the state of Par¨¢. The results expose the ribeirinho¡¯s way of life and the specificities of this sociocultural group as, for example, the practices of subsistence and commerce; this approach share some thoughts on the educational context in these specific communities. %K Amazon.
