CORALSOFTHEUPPERSILURIANSPIRIFERTINGIBEDSOFKWEICHOW.Abstract: Thespeciesofcoralsheredescribedcomprisethefollowing.1.FavositesforbesiE.&H.vatkweitungensisGrabau2.OmphymaglomerataGrabau.3.OmphymacystiphylloidesGrabau.4.CystiphyllumomphymiformeGrabau.5.Cystiphyllnmsp.6.AmplexusoflojopingensisGrabau.Withthesecoralsoccurnumerouswell-preservedspecimensofSpirifertingiGr.andseveralotherbrachiopodsofundescribedspecies.AlsoaspeciesofHolopea,probablyH.yilungensisGr.Thoughnotlarge,thisfaunaisdistinctiveandconsistsoftypicalSilurianforms.TheSpirifertingibedswerefirstrecognizedasapartoftheMiaokaogroupintheChütshingregionofEastYunnan,wherethesebedsoverlietheLowerSilurianMientiengroupdisconformably,andhaveanexposedthicknessof165metres.ThefaunainthetypicalsectionatYilungcomprisesthefollowingspecies~1.ANTHOZOA.CladoporakütsingensisGrabauBRACHIOPODACamarotoechiaoftongkinensisMans.Spirifer(Eospirifer)tingiGrabau.PELECYPODAPterineamientienensisGrabauActinopteriamansuyiGrabauModiolopsismiaokaoensisGrabauModiolopsissp.LedayilungensisGrabauPraecardiumdistansGrabauGASTROPODAHormotomakütsingensisGrabauH.kütsingensisvar.majorGrabauHolopeayilungensisGrabauOSTRACODALeperditiatingiGrabauLeperditiasp.Entomis?corduroidesGrabauIntheEastYunnanregion,theSpirifertingibedsareoverlainbytheSpiriferbourgeoisibeds,andthesebyhigherbedswithCeratiocaris,whilestillhigherbedswithfishremainssucceedthese.Noneofthesehigherbedshowever,havesofarbeenfoundinKweichow.ThestratigraphyisgiveninthefollowingnotebyV.K.Ting.
