FaciesAnalysisandSequenceStratigraphyofSilurianCarbonateRampsintheTuran(Kopeh-Dagh)andCentralIranPlateswithEmphasisonGondwanaTectonicEvent, PP. 1276-1295 Keywords: facies,sequencestratigraphy,Silurian,CentralIranPlate,TuranPlate Abstract: TwosectionsfromtheSiluriandepositsintheCentralIranMicroandTuranPlatesweremeasuredandsampled.Thesedepositsaremostlycomposedofsubmarinevolcanicrocks,skeletalandnon-skeletallimestone,shaleandsandstonethatweredepositedinlowtohighenergyconditions(fromtidalflattodeepopenmarine).Accordingtogradualdeepeningtrend,widelateraldistributionoffaciesaswellasabsenceofresedimentationdeposits,adepositionalmodelofahomoclinalrampwasproposedforthesedeposits.Fieldobservationsandfaciesdistributionindicatethat,twodepositionalsequenceswererecognizedinbothsections.ThesesectionsshowsimilaritiesinfaciesanddepositionalsequenceduringtheEarlySilurianinthearea.AlthoughtherearesomeopinionsandevidencesthatdemonstratedPaleo-TethysriftingphasestartedattheLateOrdovician-EarlySilurian,similaritiessuggestthattheTuranandIranPlateswerenotcompletelydetachedtectonicblockduringthistime,andthattheirdepositionalconditionswereaffectedbyglobalsealevelchangesandtectonicevents.
