SedimentationRateRhythms:EvidencefromFillingoftheTarimBasin,NorthwestChina, PP. 1264-1275 Keywords: geologicalrhythm,basinfilling,back-stripping,waveanalysis,wavemechanism Abstract: Variationsofsedimentationratewithinabasinovergeologictimeareatimeseriesthatcanbefilteredintoseveralcyclicwavecurves.Basedonback-strippingandtheempiricalmodedecompositionmethod,thecoresfrom14wellsintheTarimBasinwereselectedtodofilteringanalysis.Fourcyclesorquasi-cycles(33Ma,64.4Ma,103.6Ma,and224Ma)wereobtained.Amongthese,the33Maperiod,whichwasrelatedtotheinternalearthactivity,anexternalforce,oracombinationofthetwo,wasthemostobvious.The64.4Maperiodcorrespondedtothesolarsystemcrossingthegalaxyplaneortheperiodicmeltingofinner-earthmaterial.The103.6MaperiodwasrelatedwithplatecollisionaltectonismaroundtheTarimPlate.The224Maperiodwasrelatedtoonegalaxyyearandmayalsoberelatedtotheaesthenosphericalconvectioncycle.
