Abstract:

Theobjectoftheresearchareexplosivepropertiesofthepyrotechniccompositeconsistoffinegrademagnesium-aluminiumpowder(PAM)andhighlydispersedpolytetrafluorethylene(PTFE).Thecompositerevealshighresistancetoallmechanicalandthermalimpulsesandisextremelysensitivetohotsparksandopenfire.Theburningrateofthecompositionchangesfrom1cm·s-1to100m·s-1alongwithdecreasingitsdensity.Chargesofthecompositionwithdensitybelow1g·cm-3burnsoviolently,thatthephenomenaissimilartoexplosion.Chargeswithdensityabove1.1g·cm-3burnrelativelyrapidlyandstably.Themainpartofthepaperconcernsthepressureimpulsesintheairgeneratedduringhigh-rateburningofthecompositionofbulkdensity.Thenatureofthegeneratedpressureimpulseisnotthatofatypicalshockwave.Ariseofpressureoverthedistancefromthepointofexplosiontothemaximumvaluelasts50-100milliseconds,whileforshockwavesthisfactorislessthanamicrosecondforequivalentcharges.Themethodsofinitiationofthecompositioninfluencetheshapeandparametersofthepressureimpulse.Theexplanationofthenatureofgreatchangesofthecompositionburningratehasbeenproposed.Theeffectdescribedinthepaperwasusedforevaluationofexplosivepressureresistanceofindustrialdoorsandwindows.
