Abstract:

Quasi-staticandhighstrainratecompressiveexperimentsonvinylestercastingwerecarriedoutbymeansofMTS(MaterialTestSystem)andHopkinsonbar.Thebehaviorsofthecompressedunstableandfractureoftheresincastingatdifferentstrainrateswereinvestigated.Theresultsindicatethattheresponsebehavioroftheresincastingiscontrolledbydifferentmechanismsatdifferentstrainrate,andsomemechanicalpropertiesofvinylestercastingarerate-dependentthecastingaredestroyedintoughnessmodelunderstrainrate3.3×10-4~6.6×10-3/s,whilethecastingaredestroyedinbrittlenessmodelunderstrainrate950~5800/s.Theyieldstress,yieldstrainenergydensityareallincreasedwiththeincreasingstrainratesatquasi-staticaswellasathighstrainrates.Whatisinterestingisthattheyieldstraindecreasedwiththestrainratesincreasingatquasi-staticwhileincreasedathighstrainrates.Itisconsideredthatthecastingoccurredforcinghighelasticdeformationathighstrainrates.Thedamageofthespecimensismainlycontrolledbyaxialstressbeforeunstabledeformation,whilemainlycontrolledbyshearstressafterunstabledeformation,andthendevelopedtofracturefinally.Thisprogressisrate-dependentthedevelopmentofthecracksinsidethecastingsincreasedwiththestrainrateincreasing.
