EffectofTetrachloroethyleneonSphaleriteLeachingKeywords: sphaleriteleaching,sulfurlayer,tetrachloroethylene,kineticmodel Abstract: Theeffectsoftetrachloroethylene(C2Cl4)onsphaleriteleachinginFeCl3-HClwereinvestigatedinviewofsimultaneousmasstransferandreaction,andtheleachingmodelswithandwithoutorganicsolventC2Cl4werederived.TheleachingexperimentsandtheSEMresultsshowthatC2Cl4isaneffectiveorganicsolventforsphaleriteleachinginFeCl3-HClsystemtobeacceleratedandforthesulfurtobeseparated.AddingC2Cl4intheFeCl3-HClmediumwillturnthekineticmodelcontrolledbysulfurlayerdiffusionwithprocessactivationenergyof67.9kJ/molintomixeddiffusionwiththeenergyreducedto55.1kJ/molwhen20mlofC2Cl4wasadded.
