PreparationandCharacterizationofCopolymerMicellesFormedbyPoly(ethyleneglycol)-PolylactideBlockCopolymersasNovelDrugCarriersKeywords: poly(ethyleneglycol),polylactide,blockcopolymer,polymermicelle,drugcarrier Abstract: Diblockcopolymerpoly(ethyleneglycol)methylether-polylactide(MePEG-PLA)micelleswerepreparedbydialysisagainstwater.Indomethacin(IMC)asamodeldrugwasentrappedintothemicellesbydialysismethod.Thecriticalmicelleconcentration(CMC)ofthepreparedmicellesindistilledwaterinvestigatedbyfluorescencespectroscopywas0.0051mg/mLwhichislowerthanthatofcommonlowmolecularweightsurfactants.ThediametersofMePEG-PLAmicellesandIMCloadedMePEG-PLAmicellesinnumber-averagedscalemeasuredbydynamiclightscatteringwere52.4and53.7nmrespectively.TransmissionelectronmicroscopeandscanningelectronmicroscopeobservationshowedthattheappearanceofMePEG-PLAmicelleswasinasphericalshape.ThecontentofIMCincorporatedinthecoreportionofthemicelleswas18wt.%.Theeffectsofthesynthesismethodofthecopolymeronthepolydispersityofthemicellesandtheyieldofthemicellesformationwerediscussed.
