Abstract:

Anovelthree-dimensionalphotocatalyst,TiO2particulatefilmimmobilizedonactivatedcarbonfibers(TiO2/ACFs),waspreparedbyliquidphasedeposition.ThephotocatalystwascharacterizedbySEM,XRD,BETsurfaceareaandphotodegradationofmethylenebluesolution.TiO2particulatefilm,withathicknessofnearly200nmandgrainsizesof30~50nm,wasdepositedonalmosteachcarbonfiber.TheinnerspacebetweenadjacentfibersremainedasunmodifiedACFs,therefore,bothUVilluminationandpollutedsolutionswereallowedtopassthroughthefelt-formphotocatalysttoformathree-dimensionalenvironmentforphotocatalyticreactions.WithBETsurfaceareasof400~600m2/g,theTiO2/ACFsexhibitedanenhancedadsorptionofpollutantsforphotocatalysis.ComparativedegradationsindicatedthatphotocatalyticactivityoftheTiO2/ACFswasslightlyhigherthanthatofDegussaP-25TiO2.Twospecialproperties,thethree-dimensionalstructureandcombinedeffectsofACFs'adsorptionandtitania'sphotodegradation,madecontributiontohighphotocatalyticactivity.Additionally,theTiO2/ACFsexhibitedhighstabilityandpotentiallyapplicationforpracticalusage.
