NumericalSimulationofMacroscopicMixinginaRushtonImpellerStirredTankKeywords: macroscopicmixing,stirredtank,residencetimedistribution,mixingtime,numericalsimulation Abstract: Themacroscopicmixinginastirredtankwithdifferenttracerinjectionlocations,impellerspeedsandimpellerpositionsissimulatednumericallybysolvingthetransportequationofthetracerbasedonthewholeflowfieldinthebaffledtankwithaRushtondiskturbinenumericallyresolvedusingtheimprovedinner-outeriterativeprocedure.Predictedmixingtimeiscomparedwellwiththeliteraturecorrelations.Thepredictedresidencetimedistributionofthestirredtankisveryclosetothepresentexperimentalresults.Theeffectoftheinstallationofadrafttubeonthemixingtimeandresidencetimedistributionsisaddressed.
