Land potential appraisal for urban land reserve based on GIS：Keywords: land,potential,appraisal,land,banking,GIS Abstract: Withtherapidurbanization,landbankinghasbecomeanimportantmeansforrationallanduseandlandconfigurationoptimizing.Rationalurbanlandreserveandsupplyplanarekeysforanurbanlandbanking.GIShasbeenusedtomodelurbangrowth,growthattheruralurbanfringespecifically.ThispaperidentifiesthattheurbanlandbankingpotentialcanbeevaluatedbasedonRSandGIStechnology.10indicatorswerechosenintheintegratedindexsystem.AsacaseofMetropolitanareainChongqing,urbanlandbankingpotentialwasevaluatedbasedonRSandGIStechnology.WithGIS,twostepscanhelptofinishpotentialanalysisoflandbanking.Oneisgoaldrivenprocess,suchastheprocessofplanninganddefinition;theotherstepisdatadrivenprocess,suchastheprocessofManipulating.Theresultsareusedtoestablishthecurrentlandbankingplan.
