Abstract:
?Thisworkdescribesthepromisingactivityofsilvernanoparticlesonthesurfaceofapoly(2-aminodiphenylamine)modifiedcarbonpasteelectrode(CPE)towardsformaldehydeoxidation.ElectrodepositionoftheconductingpolymerfilmontheCPEwascarriedoutusingconsecutivecyclicvoltammetryinanaqueoussolutionof2-aminodiphenylamineandHCl.NitrogengroupsinthepolymerbackbonehadaAgionaccumulatingeffect,allowingAgnanoparticlestobeelectrochemicallydepositedonthesurfaceoftheelectrode.Theelectrochemicalandmorphologicalcharacteristicsofthemodifiedelectrodewereinvestigated.Theelectro-oxidationofformaldehydeonthesurfaceofelectrodewasstudiedusingcyclicvoltammetryandchronoamperometryinaqueoussolutionof0.1mol/LNaOH.Theelectro-oxidationonsetpotentialwasfoundtobearound-0.4V,whichisuniqueintheliterature.Theeffectofdifferentconcentrationsofformaldehydeontheelectrocatalyticactivityofthemodifiedelectrodewasinvestigated.Finally,thediffusioncoefficientofformaldehydeinalkalinemediawascalculatedtobe0.47×10-6cm2/susingchronoamperometry.
