Abstract:
？In(OTf)3playstheroleofaLewisacidcatalystinthePechmanncondensationofphenolswithβ-ketoestersundersolvent-freeconditionstogivecoumarinderivatives.Thisnovelandinexpensivemethodhasadvantagessuchasshortreactiontime,excellentproductyields,andavoidstheuseoforganicsolventsinagreementwithgreenchemistryprinciples.Catalystloadingscanbeaslowas1mol%togivehighyieldsofthecorrespondingcoumarinsat80℃.Thecatalystcanberecoveredafterthereaction,andreusedwithonlyaslightdecreaseintheyield.
