Abstract:

?Thedesignofnewheterogeneousphotooxygenationsystemsabletoemployvisiblelight,oxygen,mildtemperatures,andsolventwithalowenvironmentalimpacthasbeeninvestigated.Inparticular,theheterogenizationofdecatungstate(W10O4-32),apolyoxometalatewithphotocatalyticactivityinoxidationreactions,hasbeencarriedoutinpolymericmembranesofpolyvinylidenefluoride.Thepolymericcatalyticmembranespreparedbyphaseinversiontechniquehavebeensuccessfullyappliedintheaerobicmineralizationofphenolinwater,whichwasusedasanexampleoforganicpollutant.Inordertoevaluatetheeffectofthepolymericenvironmentontheoverallcatalystbehavior,wehavealsoheterogenizedthedecatungstate(opportunelyfunctionalized)inperfluorinatedmembranemadeofHyflon.Thephotocatalyticcompositemembranesarecharacterizedbydifferentandtuneablepropertiesdependingonthenatureofthepolymericmicro-environment,inwhichthecatalystisconfined.Moreover,theselectiveseparationfunctionofthemembraneresultsinenhancedperformanceincomparisonwithhomogeneousreactions.
